The Sunday of Matthew V in Nea Ionia - Deacon's Ordinationtranslated

On Sunday, July 5, 2026 (Matthew 5), the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalkidon Mr. Gabriel officiated at the procession of Orthros and then celebrated the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agia Anastasia of Farmacolytria in Nea Ionia, with the participation of clergy of the Holy Metropolis. Inside the Holy Step, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aeons, Mr. Makarios, was present in prayer.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Gabriel performed the Deacon ordination of the Reverend Mr. Eleftherios Binioris, Student of the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens, whose monastic ordination took place on Saturday, July 4, taking the name of Damascene.

The Holy Liturgy was attended by the Mayor of Nea Ionia, Mr. Panagiotis Manouris, Deputy Mayors, Members of the Municipal Council of the city, as well as a large number of believers, who reverently came to the Holy Church and addressed the "Axios" to the newly ordained Deacon.

In his short homily, the new Deacon expressed his gratitude to the Triune God, who deserved him to receive the first degree of the Priesthood and referred with emotion to the face...
