Crowd of believers in Pskov for the hand of Saint Spyridontranslated

A vigil was held on the evening of Monday, August 31 to Tuesday, September 1, 2026, on the occasion of the arrival of the holy relic of Saint Spyridon in the city of Pskov. The Holy Vigil held at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Pskov and Porhov, Mr. Matthew. During his sermon, His Holiness said:

"The transfer of this great holy relic to our diocese, to our city, is an unprecedented event. For the first time, the right hand of Saint Spyridon is visiting our region. The appearance of miraculous icons and holy relics like the relics of Saint Spyridon always strengthens the people of God in their faith and in the knowledge that the Lord guides our lives with His Providence."

Since yesterday, the faithful from the city and the surrounding areas have been forming queues in order to embrace the right hand of Saint Spyridon and in this way receive the grace and blessing of the Saint.
