July 15, 2026 · 1 min read

On the Feast of the Laying of the Venerable Robe of the Most Holy Theotokos in Blachernae, July 15, 2026, His Eminence Stephen, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the city of Buda-Koshelevo.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were the dean of the Rechitsa district, Archpriest Alexey Peshko, the dean of the Buda-Koshelevsky district, Archpriest Sergius Peshko, the cleric of the Brest diocese, Archpriest Pyotr Peshko, and the clergy of the Gomel diocese.

The chairman of the Buda-Koshelevsky district executive committee, Valentin Antonovich Undrul, was present at the service.

During the Divine Liturgy, prayer requests for the restoration of peace were offered.

At the end of the service, Archbishop Stefan addressed the clergy and parishioners with an archpastoral word.

Then Vladyka Stefan congratulated Archpriest Sergius Peshko on his anniversary and thanked him for his many years of pastoral service and work as dean. The archpastor prayerfully wished the hero of the day strength of mental and physical strength, unfailing help from God and further fruitful service to the Holy Church.

I am glad that Sergios Pesco celebrated his years in this way. May God give him strength to continue.

It's nice to read that Archbishop Stefan came to Buda-Kozhelyovo and personally congratulated Father Serghij Peschko on his anniversary. I was happy to be thanked for my many years as Blagochinny. May God really give him strength, as the Greek also wrote.

It is good that Metropolitan Stephen personally congratulated Father Sergi on his anniversary and thanked him for his years of service. The Peshko family really works hard in the church. May God give him strength and health.

Yes, Sergios Pesco is a man who worked for years without fuss. I am glad that the archbishop honored him there, in his own parish center. I hope it keeps him strong to continue.

Yes, it was really a nice gesture from the Archbishop to go there. I've heard that Father Serghij has done a lot to renovate St. Nicholas' Church in recent years, so a personal thank you like this is fitting. Hopefully the strength will last for a long time.

Yes, the personal thanks were really fitting, especially after all the years in which Father Serghij kept the Nikolai Church running practically on his own. I attended the renovation bazaar last year and saw how much he organized. Hopefully he can manage a few more quiet years without constant construction sites.

Yes, the archbishop really took it personally. I heard that Father Serghij even cleaned the old icons himself, which was a huge effort. Are you also wondering who will take over the district now if he takes a step back?

Yes, Mr. Sergi really does a lot, I remember how he arranged for us to meet in the church last spring. It is good that the Metropolitan personally congratulated him, it is very warm. May God give strength to the entire Peshko family.

Yes, Sergios Pesco did work quietly for so many years in Buda-Koseliovo. I am glad that the Divine Liturgy took place exactly in the church of Agios Nikolaos, where everyone knows him. I hope to see him in the same position for many more years.

Yes, Sergios Pesco is one of those priests who don't make a fuss but keep the place upright. I remember last year my wife and I went to the church of Saint Nicholas and we saw him arranging the candles after the service as if it were the most important task. I really hope he stays there for years, they need him.

Yes, the church of Agios Nikolaos in Bunda-Koseliovo is like his home. I remember two years ago my wife and I went fishing near Soz and we went in, Father Sergius treated us to coffee after the service and we talked about how he keeps everything in order without shouting. I hope they keep him for a few more years.

Yes, the personal visit from the Archbishop was really fitting, especially because Father Serghij helped organize the renovation of St. Nicholas Church for so long. Two years ago I was baking at the cake bazaar and saw how many old windows he sanded down himself. Are you also wondering if one of his brothers will take over the district?

Yes, the visit was really good, especially after all the years that Father Serghij has put into St. Nicholas' Church. I still remember how he sanded down the old windows himself at the last community festival - just like you helped with the cake bazaar. I don't know whether one of his brothers will take over the district, but Father Alexei is doing a very solid job as Rjetschitsa-Blagochinny.

Yes, Father Sergius is one of those who succeed quietly and methodically. I also remember passing by Buda-Koselyovo last year after a football match in Gomel, I went in for a while and it really felt like entering a home. I hope they keep him strong for many years to come.
მარიამ მაისურაძე
Yes, Mr. Sergi really sacrifices a lot, and last year I was at the divine service arranged by him in Buda-Kosheliov. It's good that the entire Peshko family is praised together like this. May God really give him strength.

Yes, Father Sergius does work quietly and without fanfare, you can see it from how he kept the church warm and welcoming for so many years. Glad you stopped by after the match too, I remember going for an afternoon walk two years ago and it felt exactly the same, like walking into a house. Tell me, how did you like the stadium in Gomel?
ნანა ბერიძე
Maria, you remember last year's service very well - I was there too and it was really quiet in the church. Sergi Baton's family really stands together, which is rare today. May God give them all strength and health.

Yes, Serghij really put a lot of sweat into the St. Nicholas Church; I remember how, after sanding down the windows at the community festival, he ate almost the entire cake by himself. It is still unclear whether one of the brothers will take over the district, but Alexei makes his rounds in Rjetschitsa really conscientiously. Hopefully the Serghij will stay with us for a long time.

Yes, Father Sergius has this talent to make the church look like a home, without anything superfluous. Last year when I passed by after the match in Gomel, the stadium seemed quite tidy but a little empty in the stands. You went for a walk, do you remember if they had also opened the small garden next to the church?

Yes, the Archbishop did a really good job, especially after all the years Father Serghij put into St. Nicholas Church. I personally saw how he sanded down the old windows at the last community festival - it was real manual work. I don't know whether one of his brothers will take over the district, but Alexej has been in the Rechit district for a long time, so maybe it will stay in the family.

Maria, I also remember how Mr. Sergi organized that service last year - very calmly and organized. It's good that the Peshko family is together, but I'm still surprised how they can handle so many things together. May God really give him strength.

Maria, Mr. Sergi's birthday was really well organized. I remember how he used to visit our Batumi church, he was always tidy. What else was interesting about that service last year?
ქეთევან კვარაცხელია
Maria, indeed, Sergi Baton's family is always seen together, even yesterday their daughter was helping her father at the altar. I also remember last year's service, but what I liked most about him was how he handled the heat throughout the day. God bless everyone.
