According to RIA Novosti, the priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, Anthony Borisov, spoke about this. When assessing work, according to him, it is necessary to take into account not only the fact of employment itself, but also the goals of the activity and its consequences.

If work serves solely to satisfy one's own selfishness, causes conflicts, or harms other people, it cannot be assessed positively from a moral point of view. In the Orthodox tradition, the benefit that human activity brings to others is of great importance. Thus, it matters not only whether a person works, but also why he does it.
Borisov also drew attention to the change in society's attitude towards work over recent decades. During the Soviet period, work was one of the key social values and actually had a special ideological status. After the collapse of the USSR, the previous system of views changed, and the previously existing cult of labor disappeared.
