A representative of the Makhachkala diocese took part in a meeting of the commission on issues of pardon under the Head of the Republic of Dagestantranslated

With the blessing of Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent, priest Sergiy Abasov, head of the diocesan Department for Prison Ministry, took part in a meeting of the commission on pardons under the Head of the Republic of Dagestan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Dagestan Shamsiyat Nasrullaeva, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Dagestan Rabiyat Akhmedova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Dagestan Zapir Alkhasov, Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Dagestan Marina Ezhova, President of the Chamber of Lawyers of the Republic of Dagestan Akif Beibutov, Rector of the Dagestan State University Murtazali Rabadanov and others.

As noted by Sh. Nasrullaeva, she emphasized that the main task of the commission is to maintain a balance between the highest state humanity and the safety of society. “Each petition requires a scrupulous study of the individual, since behind each document is the fate of a person and the safety of others, and any mistakes here are unacceptable,” she noted.

Z. Alkhasov pointed out the importance of transparency in the institution of pardons and drew the attention of his colleagues to the need for objective information coverage of the work of the commission. He noted that society must clearly...
