The Ruling Bishop of the Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese took part in the “Candle of Memory” eventtranslated

Early in the morning of June 22, on the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, His Eminence Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary took part in the traditional patriotic event “Candle of Memory”, held at the capital’s Memorial of Glory.

The Ruling Bishop was accompanied by the first assistant, Archimandrite John (Danilescu), and the deans of the Central and Bendery districts, Archpriests Sergius Verbitsky and Mikhail Lungu.

The funeral and memorial event was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Tatyana Zalevskaya, the Chairman of the Government of the PMR Alexander Rosenberg, the first President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of government bodies, public organizations, as well as numerous residents of Tiraspol.

Those gathered honored the memory of the fallen heroes with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, the graves of the defenders of the Fatherland and the memorial sites of the Glory Memorial, gratefully remembering the feat of those who, at the cost of their own lives, defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland.

Participation in the “Candle of Memory” event was another evidence of the careful preservation of historical memory of the tragic events of 22...
