✤ El mártir francés San Víctor de Marsella (siglo III d.C.) ✤

Víctor nació en una familia noble de Marsella durante el siglo III d.C. Trabajó en el oficio de armas. Sirvió al emperador con valentía y lealtad. Pero cuando Maximiano visitó Marsella (alrededor del año 288 d.C.), al comienzo de la época de persecución de los cristianos, Víctor no quiso ocultar su fe y comenzó a animar a sus compañeros de armas cristianos a no temer a quienes matan el cuerpo para ser considerados dignos de recompensas celestiales. Día y noche iba de casa en casa instando a los creyentes a la batalla de la fe y acompañando a los mártires a los lugares de su tortura. Él también fue detenido y despertado, encadenado, ante el Emperador. Si bien permaneció inquebrantable ante las amenazas y promesas engañosas del tirano, avergonzó la arrogancia de la idolatría y proclamó a Cristo como el único Dios verdadero. Интересно, как Виктор из благородной семьи, служивший в армии, вдруг начал ходить по домам и укреплять христиан перед казнями. Не побоялся даже перед самим Максимианом стоять. У нас в церкви на иконах такие святые всегда с мечом, теперь понимаю почему.
