Double joy for the Diocese of Grevena - Ordination of Fr. Vassiliou Zarkoyiannis to Deacon and Eldertranslated

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Grevena, Mr. David, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios Megalos Sirinios and then proceeded to the ordination of Mr. Vassiliou Zarkogiannis as a Deacon. In the Church full of believers, relatives and friends of the new Deacon enthusiastically participated in the Divine Liturgy and became partakers of this great moment for the local Church. In his speech, His Eminence addressed fatherly admonitions to the new Deacon, calling him to always keep the flame of faith unquenched in his heart and to serve the Church with fear of God, humility, love and self-denial.

He made special reference to the responsibility he now assumes towards man and the flock of Christ. He emphasized that the clergyman is first called to fight for the salvation of his own soul and, through his personal example, prayer and sacrificial ministry, to become a guide and supporter of people on the road to salvation.

His Eminence also pointed out that the day of the ordination was not accidental, as on this day the Church honors the memory of the Prophet Zacharios.
