Le cardinal Matteo Zuppi, président de la Conférence épiscopale italienne (CEI), a entamé une visite de quatre jours en Ukraine par une halte au centre de détention de Zakhid-1, dans la région de Lviv, où sont détenus les prisonniers capturés alors qu'ils combattaient pour l'armée russe. Apportant des cadeaux et un message du pape Léon XIV, il leur dit : « Le pape prie pour vous » et exprime l'espoir qu'ils « rentreront bientôt chez eux ».

I hope those prisoners felt a bit of real comfort from the gifts and the Pope’s words — being stuck in a place like that has to be rough. Interesting that Zuppi started there instead of Kyiv. Praying the whole trip actually helps move things toward peace.
