Orthodox calendar, September 2 Holy Martyr Mamant He was the son of the patrician Teodotus, and his mother was Rufina. During the persecutions of the third century, they were brought from the province of Gangara to the governor of Caesarea Cappadocia, Faust, one of the fierce persecutors of Christians. Being imprisoned, Rufina gave birth to Saint Mamant in prison, after which she died as a martyr.

At God's command, a woman named Amina took Rufina's baby into her care. Reaching maturity, Saint Mamant stood out like his parents in the confession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Being arrested by the delegate of the emperor Aurelian (270-275), a certain Democritus, is sent to the Aegean, where the emperor was, to be tried and condemned by the emperor himself, because he was part of a noble family.

Not wanting to give up his faith and confessing the Savior Jesus Christ as the only King of heaven and earth, he was subjected to torture and suffered martyrdom in the year 275.

Мамант родился прямо в тюрьме, а мать его там же и умерла. Жалко, что ребёнок сиротой остался, но хорошо, что Амина его взяла и вырастила. Видно, вера у него от родителей крепко передалась.
