The right hand of Saint Spyridon reached the Far Easttranslated

September 8, 2026 · 1 min read

The right hand of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker arrived in the Far East on Monday, September 7, 2026 with more than 3,500 believers gathering at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Khabarovsk to venerate the holy relic which, with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia etc. Cyril, was transferred to Russia from the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands.    A flight from Irkutsk carried a delegation from the Diocese of Corfu, representatives of the World Russian People's Council and the Innokenty Sibiryakov Foundation, who are accompanying the holy relic, to Khabarovsk airport.

Thousands of believers gathered in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration to witness this important spiritual event and venerate the saint's relic.

The solemn reception was presided over by the Metropolitan of Khabarovsk and Primorsky Mr. Artemios.

Metropolitan Artemios characterized the arrival of the right hand of Saint Spyridon as a special sign of God's mercy for the Far East. "This is the first time that a saint of such great spiritual power, so respected throughout the Orthodox world, comes...

I remember reading how St. Spyridon’s hand helped with the drought back in Corfu years ago. Interesting to see it reach Khabarovsk now, especially with over 3,500 people showing up at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. Wonder if they’ll bring it further east after this.
