On September 4, on the banks of the Bureya River in the village of Novobureysky, the opening of two new steles with the names of residents of the Bureya district who suffered during the years of repression took place. The steles are installed next to the monument to repressed fellow countrymen.

Representatives of the Bureysky District administration, deputies of the first convocation, the public and residents of the village took part in the memorable event.

After the opening, the rector of the Church of Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg, Archpriest Andrei Baikov, consecrated the new steles and offered prayers for the repose of those who suffered during the years of repression.

The ceremony participants expressed special gratitude to the honorary resident of the Bureysky district and benefactor Alexander Yakovlevich Litvinenko, thanks to whose support the new steles were installed. Alexander Yakovlevich also took an active part in the construction of the Church of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg in the village.

At the end of the memorial ceremony, those gathered laid flowers and honored the memory of the repressed residents of the Bureysky District with a minute of silence.

The new steles complemented the existing memorial, preserving for future generations the names of fellow countrymen whose destinies were connected with the tragic pages of national history.
