September 8, 2026 · 1 min read

The right hand of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker arrived in the Far East on Monday, September 7, 2026 with more than 3,500 believers gathering at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Khabarovsk to venerate the holy relic which, with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia etc. Cyril, was transferred to Russia from the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands.    A flight from Irkutsk carried a delegation from the Diocese of Corfu, representatives of the World Russian People's Council and the Innokenty Sibiryakov Foundation, who are accompanying the holy relic, to Khabarovsk airport.

Thousands of believers gathered in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration to witness this important spiritual event and venerate the saint's relic.

The solemn reception was presided over by the Metropolitan of Khabarovsk and Primorsky Mr. Artemios.

I remember reading how St. Spyridon’s hand helped with the drought back in Corfu years ago. Interesting to see it reach Khabarovsk now, especially with over 3,500 people showing up at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. Wonder if they’ll bring it further east after this.

It's nice that they brought the right hand of Saint Spyridon all the way to Khabarovsk. I remember how he helped with the rain in Corfu when there was a great drought, and now here he is in the Far East with over 3500 believers in the cathedral church. I wonder if they will carry it further east afterwards, as David says.

Yes, very nice that they brought him all the way there. I remember that in Kerkyra he helped with the rain, and here in Khabarovsk it is surely a consolation for many people after so much drought and heat. I wonder if they will take him to Vladivostok, or will he stay only in Khabarovsk?

It is interesting that it was the right hand that was brought from Kerkyra - I remember that in the stories about the saint, it was with this hand that he blessed and called for rain. In Khabarovsk, apparently, it was also hot; 3,500 people in the cathedral is a lot. I wonder if they will take her further east, as they think in the comments.

It's nice that they brought the right hand of Saint Spiridon all the way to Khabarovsk. I remember how in Kerkyra he begged for rain with that hand during a great drought, and now there were over 3,500 people in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. I wonder if they are taking her even further east.

Yes, I noticed that the right hand is the one they brought from Corfu, just as they used to bless and ask for rain in ancient stories. More than 3,500 people in the Transformation Cathedral in Khabarovsk, that's a big number. I wonder if they will take it to Vladivostok after that or not.
