Gen.18:6. “And he said to her: “Hurry up, knead three measures of the finest wheat flour.” Since “three measures” is said here seemingly without reference [to any value] and the measure remains undefined, I will add that the Hebrew text says “three sats,” that is, three amphorae, so that we know the same secret both here and in the Gospel, where it is said that a woman leavened “three sats” of flour (Matthew 13:33). Gen.18:10. “And he said: “When I return, I will come to you at this time and hour, and Sarah will have a son.” Instead of “hour” in the Hebrew text we read “life”. The logic and meaning is: “I will return to you during my lifetime.” He seemed to say: “If I live, if life accompanies me.” This is said ἀνθρωποπάθως, like many other things [in Scripture]. Gen.18:12. “And Sarah laughed to herself, saying: “This has never happened to me before, and my lord is old.” This passage is read completely differently in the Hebrew text: “And Sarah laughed to herself, saying: “After I had faded away, did I have to experience this delight?” “Note here that where I put the word “delight,” the Hebrew text says eden ( עֶדְנָ ֔ ה ), Symmachus translated this passage as follows: “After I was completely has become dilapidated due to old age, [has it really] become my youth?” Gen.18:32. "And he said, 'Is there anything, Lord, if I say?'" In Greek it is written like this: μ ή τι κύριε ἐὰν λαλ ή σω . For the second time, Abraham speaks to the Lord words that are not entirely clear. The Hebrew text says more clearly: “I beseech you, Lord, do not be angry if I tell you.” Since, in making the request, he apparently limited the Lord with some kind of objection, he softens the request with a preliminary statement.
