Where there is buying and selling, there is often sin. Do not praise the person before the conversation. Strive for the truth and you will find it. Don't waste your time among the foolish. Love your friend and be faithful to him. Avoid double-mindedness and deceit. Whoever throws a stone upward throws it on his own head. Whoever digs a hole will fall into it himself; whoever sets up a net will fall into it himself. Sir.27:1 Many have sinned for the sake of unimportant things, and he who seeks wealth turns away his eyes. Sir.27:2 In the midst of the fastenings of stones a nail is driven in: so in the midst of buying and selling sin enters. Sir.27:3 If anyone does not carefully maintain the fear of the Lord, his house will soon be ruined. Sir.27:4 When a sieve is shaken, rubbish remains: so is the uncleanness of a man in his reasoning. Sir.27:5 Clay vessels are tested in the furnace, but the test of a man is by his conversation. Sir.27:6 The care of a tree is revealed in its fruit: so in the word is the thoughts of the human heart. 6. Just as the good quality of a fruit, or its poor quality, largely depends on the care of the tree and indicates the degree of this care, so is the product of human thoughts and feelings - the word largely expresses the innate inclinations and degree of good manners of a person. Sir.27:7 Do not praise a person before a conversation, for it is a test of people. Sir.27:8 If you diligently seek righteousness, you will find it and be clothed with it as a garment of glory. 8. Podir is a long robe worn by Jewish high priests and kings. Sir.27:9 Birds flock to those like themselves, and the truth turns to those who practice it. Sir.27:10 As a lion lies in wait for its prey, so do the sins of those who do injustice. Sir.27:11 The conversation of a pious man is always wisdom, but a foolish man changes like the moon. Sir.27:12 Do not waste time among the foolish, but spend it constantly among the prudent. Sir.27:13 The conversation of fools is disgusting, and their laughter is the sport of sin. Sir.27:14 The idle talk of many who swear will raise the hair on end, and their argument will stop their ears. Sir.27:15 The quarrel of the arrogant is bloodshed, and their abuse is unbearable to hear. Sir.27:16 He who reveals secrets has lost confidence and will not find a friend after his own soul. Sir.27:17 Love your friend and be faithful to him; Sir.27:18 And if you reveal his secrets, do not pursue him any more: Sir.27:19 For as a man kills his enemy, so have you killed the friendship of your neighbor; Sir.27:20 And just as you would let a bird out of your hands, so you have missed your friend and will not catch him; Sir.27:21 Do not pursue him, for he has gone far and escaped like a chamois from a net. Sir.27:22 The wound can be bandaged, and after a quarrel reconciliation is possible; Sir.27:23 But whoever revealed the secrets has lost hope of reconciliation. Sir.27:24 He who blinks his eye plots intrigues, and no one can stop him from doing so; 24. An indirect person cannot stand a direct, honest look. Sir.27:25 Before your eyes he will speak sweetly and will be amazed at your words, Sir.27:26 And afterward he will pervert his mouth and reveal temptation in your words; Sir.27:27 I hate many things, but not so much as him; and the Lord will hate him. Sir.27:28 He who throws a stone upward throws it on his own head, and the treacherous blow will divide the wounds. Sir.27:29 Whoever digs a hole will himself fall into it, and whoever lays a net will himself be caught in it. Sir.27:30 Whoever does evil will have it return to him, and he will not know where it came from; Sir.27:31 mockery and reproach from the proud and vengeance like a lion will lie in wait for him. Sir.27:32 Those who rejoice over the fall of the pious will be caught in a snare, and sorrow will consume them before they die. Sir.27:33 Malice and anger are also abominations, and a sinful man will possess them.
