The Holy Apostle Paul, sending a letter to the Romans from Corinth 2481, greets in this letter Herodion, who was then in Rome with the Holy Apostle Peter: “Greet Herodion, my relative” (Rom. 16:11). The Holy Apostle Agabus was filled with the gift of prophecy. He is mentioned in the book of the Acts of the Apostles. It is said here about him that when the prophets gathered from Jerusalem to Antioch, “one of them, named Agabus, stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine throughout the whole world, which happened under Caesar Claudius” (Acts 11:27-28). All these mentioned Apostles from the seventy labored greatly, preaching the Gospel of Christ throughout the whole world and bringing many pagans to Christ. At different times, almost all of them were subjected to various torments from both Jews and Greeks, and, having accepted the crown of martyrdom, they went to the Lord in glory. Christ's disciples and Apostles of all honor have appeared, the glorious Herodion, Agave and Rufus, Asinkrit, Phlegonte with Hermas: ever pray to the Lord to grant us forgiveness of sins to those who sing you. The Holy Apostle Herodion, like the other five Apostles remembered today, belongs to the number of 70 Apostles.
