(Acts 15:35–41; John 10:27–38) “When you do not believe Me, believe My works” (John 10:38), says the Lord. The works of the Lord were obvious to everyone, and He could point them out publicly. This is the healing of various diseases, casting out demons, power over nature, knowing the thoughts of the heart, prophesying the future, the power of words and dominion over souls. All of them clearly proved that Jesus Christ is from God and that His word is truth. For us, those works were also supplemented by a wondrous death, resurrection, ascension, the descent of the Holy Spirit, the founding of the Church, wondrous spiritual gifts in believers, victory over paganism and grace-filled powers that have not ceased to operate in the Church of God. All these are the works of the Lord. We can say to any unbeliever: if you do not believe the word, believe these deeds, which loudly testify to the Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ and, having believed, accept His whole truth. But how then did the Jews answer the Lord? Again “they sought to seize Him” (John 10:39). What are today's infidels? They sit and weave lie upon lie in order to “capture” (John 10:39) not the Lord - for this is beyond their strength, but those who are simple in faith and cannot unravel their intricacies.
