“For several years a cruel illness slowly crept up on me, which finally put me to bed in January 1911. From that time on, my condition became worse and worse. At the end of March and the beginning of April, my relatives were expecting my death from minute to minute, and the doctors who treated me refused to continue treatment. My situation became desperate... But the Lord God, out of His ineffable mercy, judged differently and revealed His favor to me, His sinful and unworthy servant. Fervent prayers of my family, friends and acquaintances, students and spiritual children, supported by holy prayers and the intercession of the ever-memorable Rev. John, we reached the Throne of the Most High - and He, the All-Generous One, sent me healing from the ailments that beset me (malignant acute anemia and chronic myocarditis) through the Holy Mysteries from the church in which the venerable Fr. John. Since Holy Week of 1911, I began to partake of the Holy Mysteries almost weekly, and, to the joy of me and all my relatives and spiritual children, I began to recover, unexpectedly for everyone. In September of the same year, I became so strong that I could go to the Crimea for further treatment, and in January 1912 I could begin my official duties. With all my heart I acknowledge, openly confess and will never cease to proclaim in the glory of the ever-memorable Archpriest Fr.
