That henceforth the councils of each metropolitan region should meet once a year.
Desiring in everything to adhere to the institutions of our holy fathers, we also renew the rule commanding that a Council of Bishops of each metropolitan region be held annually where the metropolitan deems it best. But since, due to the raids of the barbarians and for other random reasons, the primates of the Churches do not have the opportunity to convene Councils twice a year, it was decided that the Council of the above-mentioned bishops should be convened without fail once a year for the sake of naturally arising church issues in each metropolitan region, during the period from the holy feast of Easter until the end of October of each year, in the place that, as stated above, will be approved by the metropolitan. And those bishops who do not appear at the Council, although they are in their cities and, moreover, are in health and are free from any urgent and necessary activity, it is brotherly to reprimand.

Ἐν πᾶσι τὰ ὑπὸ τῶν ἁγίων Πατέρων ἡμῶν θεσπιθέντα καὶ ἡμεῖς κρατεῖν βουλόμενοι, ἀνανεοῦμεν καὶ τὸν κανόνα τὸν διαγορεύοντα, καθ᾿ ἕκαστον ἔτος συνόδους τῶν ἐν ἑκάστῃ ἐπαρχίᾳ γίνεσθαι ἐπισκόπων, ἔνθα ἂν ὁ τῆς μητροπόλεως δοκιμάσῃ ἐπίσκοπος.
