On the removal of clerics from worldly activities.
Since some of the clergy, neglecting the canonical decree, leaving their parish, flee to another, mainly in this God-protected and royal city, and settle with the rulers, performing services in their houses of prayer, such, without the knowledge of their own bishop and the bishop of Constantinople, are not allowed to be received in any house or church. If anyone does this and persists in it, let him be cast out. And those who do this with the knowledge of the above-mentioned clergy are not allowed to take upon themselves worldly and everyday concerns, since they are forbidden to do this by divine rules. If someone is caught holding the position of the so-called great, either let him leave it, or let him be deposed. It is better for him to engage in training children and servants by reading the Divine Scriptures to them. For this is why he received the lot of the priesthood.

Ἐπειδή τινες τῶν κληρικῶν, παραλογιζόμενοι τὴν κανονικὴν διάταξιν, ἀπολιπόντες τὴν ἑαυτῶν παροικίαν εἰς ἑτέραν παροικίαν ἐκτρέχουσι, κατὰ τὸ πλεῖστον δὲ ἐν ταύτῃ τῇ θεοφυλάκτῳ καὶ βασιλίδι πόλει, καὶ εἰς ἄρχοντας προσεδρεύουσιν, ἐν τοῖς αὐτῶν εὐκτηρίοις τὰς λειτουργίας ποιοῦντες, τούτους, χωρὶς τοῦ ἰδίου ἐπισκόπου καὶ τοῦ Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, οὐκ ἔξεστι δεχθῆναι ἐν οἱῳδήποτε οἴκῳ, ἢ ἐκκλησίᾳ· εἰ δέ τις τοῦτο ποιήσει, ἐπιμένων, καθαιρείσθω. Ὅσοι δὲ μετ᾿ εἰδήσεως τῶν προλεχθέντων ἱερέων τοῦτο ποιοῦσιν, οὐκ ἔξεστιν αὐτοῖς, κοσμικὰς καὶ βιωτικὰς φροντίδας ἀναλαμβάνεσθαι, ὡς κεκωλυμένοις τοῦτο ποιεῖν παρὰ τῶν θείων κανόνων. Εἰ δέ τις φωραθείη τῶν λεγομένων μειζοτέρων τὴν φροντίδα ἐπέχων, ἢ παυσάσθω, ἢ καθαιρείσθω. Μᾶλλον μὲν οὖν ἴτω πρὸς διδασκαλίαν τῶν τε παίδων καὶ τῶν οἰκετῶν, ἐπαναγινώσκων αὐτοῖς τὰς θείας Γραφάς· εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ καὶ τὴν ἱερωσύνην ἐκληρώσατο.
