The fact that there is no insult to the ecclesiastical judges of the first instance if in the highest court, i.e. in the second instance, their decision will be changed, except in the case where it is proven that these judges judged unfairly.
It was also desirable that if an appeal is made against the verdict of any ecclesiastical judges to other ecclesiastical judges who have greater power, let those whose verdict is overturned suffer no harm in any way, since it will be impossible for them to be convicted of having passed the verdict out of enmity or partiality, or of having been bribed by some favor.

Καὶ τοῦτό γε μὴν ἤρεσεν, ὥστε, ἐὰν ἀπὸ οἱωνδήποτε δικαστῶν ἐκκλησιαστικῶν ἐπὶ ἄλλους δικαστὰς ἐκκλησιαστικοὺς ἔχοντας μείζονα τὴν αὐθεντίαν, ἔκκλητος γένηται, μηδὲν βλάπτειν τούτους ὧν ἡ ψῆφος λύεται· ἐὰν ἐλεγχθῆναι μὴ δυνηθῶσιν, ἢ κατ᾽ ἔχθραν, ἢ κατὰ προσπάθειαν δεδικακέναι;[1]
