This sounds like the state telling the Church who it can pray with. If they close the Estonian Orthodox Church over ties to Moscow, that's not protecting faith, it's politics deciding what counts as real worship. Sad to see.

The state deciding which church ties are allowed feels like it’s crossing a line. Sarah nailed it — this isn’t about protecting faith, it’s politicians picking who we can pray with. Praying for the Estonian faithful tonight.

I get what you mean, Sarah — it does feel like the state stepping in to dictate who a church can stay in communion with. Here in our own parish we’ve had visiting clergy from different jurisdictions, and the prayer felt genuine regardless of the paperwork. Do you think a clean legal separation would actually change how the Estonian faithful worship day to day?
