Our lower church here has the same heavy wear from all those years — the old plaster in the corners still shows the original brickwork if you look close. I don’t think they’ve announced a firm finish date yet; last I heard from Father they’re still waiting on the fresco specialists. Have you had any luck getting a tour of the restoration area?

I agree, Vasily, three centuries is serious, especially after all those floods when the water in the basement was waist-deep. The headman really makes sure that the old masonry is not covered up. There were no deadlines in the article, but at the last parish meeting they said that they should be done by the fall of 2026 if funding does not fail. Have you been down there before the renovation?
