Although I cannot be with you today as you gather together for your commission’s meeting, I want to convey my special appreciation for the important work you are undertaking as a commission and to encourage you as you continue building on the fresh mandate you have pursued since the WCC’s 11th Assembly, in Karlsruhe.
I am grateful to your esteemed moderator, Rev. Prof. Dr Meehyun Chung, and vice-moderator, Rev. Dr Teddy Chalwe Sakupapa for their leadership and dedication. As you know, Teddy has joined the staff at the WCC and was, therefore, required to step down from his role as vice-moderator. The next executive committee meeting will make a new appointment.
As you gather here in these days, I appreciate all of you for traveling long distances to confer about the state of ecumenical education globally and to advance the cause of ecumenical education and formation.
