The murder of Father Jacques Hamel: A tragedy that shook Christians and Muslims

Ten years ago, on 26 July 2016, Father Jacques Hamel, pastor of the parish of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray in northern France, was murdered while celebrating Mass. Two terrorists who had pledged allegiance to the so-called Islamic State slit his throat. One member of the congregation who was attending Mass was also seriously injured.

I feel sorry for this old man. I remember seeing him on the news, how his throat was cut right at liturgy. Ten years have passed, and I still can't understand why someone would do that in God's house. May God grant him eternal rest.

Very sad what happened to Father Jacques Amell. I remember that day when it was shown on the news, how he was slaughtered inside the church while he was serving. Ten years later I still don't see any logic in such violence, especially in the house of God. His memory is eternal.
