For ten years, a creative art studio for children has been operating at the Spassky Convent. This year, teachers are again expecting young students from 5 to 14 years old.

Artist-teacher with a higher artistic and pedagogical education Liliya Vladimirovna Yukhtanova spoke about how creativity arose within the monastery walls:

– At first, for me it was a real experiment. Since I am an icon painter, artist and teacher, I decided to invite Mother Sergius to organize classes for children. She happily agreed. I try to carefully think through the flow of each lesson. The main thing is the emotional charge. Before approaching the easel, we talk. Faith is the foundation of our creative process. Everything we talk about with our students is in one way or another connected with God, with the beauty and harmony of the world He created.

We can say that we invariably start with Heaven, with a conversation about the most important thing in each lesson, and only then move on to paints and brushes. After all, how can a child draw an angel without first thinking about who an angel is and how he wants to portray it?
