A century after the foundation stone was laid, the Chirilovca Monastery church in Florești district, Republic of Moldova, was consecrated on Thursday by Metropolitan Antonie of Bessarabia, together with Vicar Bishop Nectarie de Bogdania of the Archdiocese of Chisinau.
The consecration service took place on the day of commemoration of Saint Hierarch Dionisie Erhan, Bishop of Cetății Albe-Ismail.
The place of worship was dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Great Martyr George.
A work started in the interwar period The celebration in Chirilovka crowns a work started about a century ago, but interrupted for several decades during the Soviet occupation.
The resumption of construction was initiated in 2016, through the involvement of the protopopul of Florești, Ilie Munteanu.
Clerics from the dioceses of Chisinau and Balti, monks of the settlement, founders and believers participated in the consecration.
Among the guests was Archimandrite Nicodim Gheorghiță, abbot of the Hadâmbu Monastery in Iasi county, who supported the building works of the church.
