Event of the Association of Chanters of Rhodestranslated

In view of the Holy and Great Week and under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Rhodes, the Association of Chanters of Rhodes "Evangelos Moutafis" successfully organized a concert of Byzantine music entitled "The Divine Passions" on the evening of Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, attracting a large number of believers, who came to participate in a deeply immersive experience, in view of the Holy and Great Week. The central figure of the event was the Cantor of the Holy Church of Panagia Dexia of Thessaloniki, Mr. Christos Chalkias, who with his experience and ecclesiastical ethos contributed significantly to the performance of the sacred melodies. The choir of the Association of Chanters of Rhodes, under the direction of Mr. Panagiotis Manousakis, performed hymns of Holy Week, while at the same time, the traditional choir of the Association, under the direction of Mr. Stavros Kanias, highlighted the popular religious feeling through melodies inextricably linked to the experiential relationship of the Greek people with the Passion of the Lord. The event was presented by Protopresbyter Fr Kallistos Anastasiou, who framed the proceedings with a theologically direct and spiritually inspired speech.
