The festival of the Holy Church of Agia Vassi Edessatranslated

The annual festival of the Holy Church of Agia Vassi Edessa was celebrated with solemnity and enthusiasm. On Thursday, August 20, 2026 in the afternoon, a Great Vespers was celebrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Serbia and Kozani Mr. Pavlos and co-celebrants of Rev. Metropolitan of Edessa, Pelli and Almopia, Mr. Ioel and the Theophilist Bishop of Almopia, Mr. Stefanos.

During the service, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Servia and Kozani appointed as Reader the disciple Georgios Vasdaris, his grandson for fifty years, a youth of the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios of Edessa, Mr. Georgios Pavlidis. In his sermon, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kozani interpreted the Hagiographic saying, that the power to the rulers has been given by God. He also presented the Virgin Mary as a model of woman and mother, noting that in our time there is a great need for women to realize their sacred mission and indeed the importance of motherhood.
