She is the daughter of pious parents, Dorotheos and Ephesus, from Asia Minor. She was born as a result of barrenness, which the Lord God solved through the frequent prayers of her parents. Devoted to God since childhood. Her heart was not occupied with what children usually occupy. When she grew in grace and stature, she became a beautiful girl in soul and body. Many wanted her as their wife, but she withheld herself from them because, as she said, she had devoted herself to Christ and only wanted to die as a virgin to Him. One of those she disappointed told Emperor Diocletian of her and her parents that she was a Christian.
