I.M.M. Vatopediou celebrates the Deposition of the Holy Belttranslated

With particular splendor and rapture, the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopaidi celebrates the feast of the Deposition of the Holy Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring the precious Theotokos relic that is kept in the Agioreitiki Monastery.

On the evening of the eve of the feast, before the beginning of the Little Vespers, the Agia Zoni of Panagia was taken out of the Holy Vima by the Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheo, and transferred to the Catholic Church of the Monastery, in order to be placed in worship during the solemn Vigil.

His Eminence was flanked by the Professor of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi, Elder Ephraim, as well as a multitude of priests, monks and deacons.

The Holy Belt was placed in the center of the Catholic Church, where the Fathers of the Monastery, as well as the pilgrims who came from various regions for the celebration, had the opportunity to worship and receive the blessing of the Virgin Mary.

The Political Governor of Mount Athos, Mr. Alcibiades Stefanis, was also present among the faithful.

The Little Vespers followed and then the monastic Eucharist was recited. An overnight vigil will follow.
