The last Little Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos in the Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni Ierapetratranslated

In a stifling atmosphere and with the participation of many pilgrims, the High Priestly Vespers and the Little Prayer Rule to the Most Holy Theotokos took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in the Holy Monastery of Panagia Panagia Faneromeni, Ierapetra. The service was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ierapytni and Sitia Mr. Kyrillos, who at the end blessed the breads and preached the divine word appropriately in the forecourt of the cavernous catholicon of the Monastery.

In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the person and virtues of Theotokos that made her chosen throughout the generations to serve God's plan for the salvation of the whole world. As he pointed out, these days of the fifteenth of August, culminating in the great feast of the Dormition of the Virgin, hundreds of believers from all over Lasithi and Eastern Crete with popular reverence ascend to the Monastery. Many, especially young people, travel on foot. Some go up to fulfill a wish, some to give thanks, some to ask for help and comfort. New mothers come with their children in their arms. And all testify before the miraculous…
