The feast of the Advancement of the Holy Cross in Karditsatranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the procession of Orthros, performed the Procession of the Holy Cross and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos Karditsis on the morning of Saturday, August 1, 2026.

During his sermon, on the occasion of the beginning of the month of August, he referred to the deep spiritual significance of this period for the Orthodox Church, underlining that it is an eminently theotokos month, dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos and her glorious Dormition, the "Summer Easter". He pointed out that the Virgin Mary is the greatest confirmation of man's call to deification, as the humble daughter of Nazareth was claimed to share in the glory of the Holy Trinity. At the same time, he reminded that the entire month, up to and including the feast of Agia Zoni on August 31, is a period of special honor to the venerable face of Theotokos.
