Anniversary event I.N. Dormition of the Theotokos Thermos for the completion of 200 years since the Exodus of Messolonghitranslated

On the occasion of the completion of two hundred years since the Heroic Exodus of Messolonghi (1826–2026), the Holy Dormition Church of Theotokos Thermos organizes an anniversary event of memory and honor, on Friday August 21, 2026 at 8:00 p.m., in the forecourt of the Holy Church. The event is part of the anniversary activities held in the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania to highlight the historical memory and spiritual legacy of the Heroic Exodus of Messolonghi, an event that is a milestone in modern Greek history and a timeless symbol of faith, sacrifice and love for freedom.

The keynote speaker will be His Holiness Archimandrite Christophoros of Mytilene, Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Patras, who will develop the topic: "Saint Kosmas the Aetolos and the enslavement of the Nation".

Through the speech, the figure and contribution of Saint Kosmas of Aitolos, that great Teacher and Illuminator of the Genus, who with his speech and presence spiritually supported the enslaved Greeks and worked with self-sacrifice for the preservation of faith, education and national consciousness, will be highlighted.
