Jordan prepares for 2,000th anniversary of Christ’s Baptism in 2030

Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan has stressed the need for timely and comprehensive preparations for the 2030 commemoration of the 2,000th anniversary of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River.

According to local media outlets, Hassan chaired the second meeting of the relevant national committee on Thursday, September 17, calling on its executive committees to proceed according to clear timelines and submit regular progress reports. Particular emphasis was placed on upgrading the Baptism Site and improving infrastructure and services for pilgrims and visitors.

According to local media , the Prime Minister also referred to Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II’s recent visit to the Baptism Site and stressed that previously agreed projects should be completed within their established deadlines. Four agreements worth approximately $120 million for projects in the area were signed in August.
