Bishop Macarie to the Romanians of Bergen: The Mother of God supports us and leads us to her Sontranslated

His Holiness Father Macarie, Bishop of Northern Europe, spoke to Romanians from Bergen, Norway, about the protection and intercession of the Mother of God. "She covers us and supports us, carries us in her arms and takes us to her Son," said His Eminence.

On Tuesday, the hierarch celebrated the Vigil service, the Chapel of the Mother of God and the Holy Liturgy at the Episcopal Chapel in the Norwegian city.

The Bishop of Northern Europe recalled the words spoken by the Savior to the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John on the Cross and showed that they are addressed, spiritually, to every believer: "He said to his beloved disciple John, Son, here is your mother, and the Savior Jesus Christ says the same to us, because we have a loving and compassionate Mother."

His Eminence also explained the origin of the name "Mother of God", referring to the meeting between the Virgin Mary and Elizabeth the Righteous, reported in the Gospel according to Luke: "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, and from where does it honor me that the Mother of My God should come to me?".
