Pupils of the Sunday school of the St. Nicholas Cathedral in the village of Epifan (Tula region) visited the inhabitants of the Epifan inpatient department for elderly citizens and the disabled, a boarding house type. The children, together with teacher Evgenia Komkova, prepared a program dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons and the celebration of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.

Together with her co-host, Sunday school student Karina Akhmedova, the mentor of children from the St. Nicholas parish told the wards of the inpatient department about the history of the holiday, its meaning, main message and significance both for the elderly themselves and for younger generations. “This holiday speaks of respect for honorable members of society, recognition of your merits and the significance of your work. We are grateful for everything you have done and are still doing. In return, we can only love you, try to give you joy, good mood and charge you with the energy of good feelings and emotions,” the diocese website quotes her as saying.
