Orthodox calendar October 7 St. Mary Mc. Sergio and Vah Saints Serghie and Vah lived during the time of Emperor Maximian (286-305), being of Roman descent and leading commanders in the empire's army. They enjoyed great honor before the emperor for their skill and bravery in wars, as well as for their faithfulness in their services. In secret, however, they were Christians, believing in our Lord Jesus Christ and striving to please Him through their holy life.
So, being accused of worshiping Christ and renouncing the honor of the gods, they were invited by the emperor to bring, together with him, a sacrifice in the church of Zeus. But when the emperor entered, the servants of Christ, Sergius and Vah, remained outside and did not enter with him.
Seeing this, the emperor ordered the servants to bring them to the church by force and ordered them to worship the idols. But they, not wanting to do this, said to the emperor: "We have a God in heaven, unfaithful, true and living. He is not unfeeling like your idols; Him we worship."
