The faith of the deported Bessarabians, evoked by priest Viorel Cojocaru: They traveled with Christ in their armstranslated

Father Viorel Cojocaru, cultural advisor of the Archdiocese of Chisinau, explained on Tuesday, for the Doxa website, how the Bessarabians deported from the province during the Soviet period kept their faith and hope in God in the midst of suffering.

The priest showed that although they had to abandon their homes and possessions, many of the deported "traveled with Christ on their arm" through the icons they took with them, being proof of "an authentic experience, an unspeakable trust" in the face of tragic moments.

"And in the most difficult times of crisis, they appealed directly to divine providence, to God. We find that even during the deportations, all those who suffered had great trust in God, precisely from this context, they managed to survive."

Starting from the testimonies of the descendants of the deported persons, the father counselor evoked the drama of the families forced to leave their households in a very short time: "They abandoned dowry boxes, house, furniture".

"They all took their icons with them. So that Christ would not be robbed, they took him with them," said Father Viorel Cojocaru, showing that by choosing to keep them "they managed to transform...
