From the collection of the Synodal Library No. 562, l. 181 vol.–182; was published in the first volume of the Acts of Archeogr. Expedition under No. 378, where it is attributed to 1479 - incorrectly. The rulers mentioned in the charter: Joasaph of Rostov, Simson of Ryazan and Gerasim of Kolomna were ordained in 1481. By the grace of God and His Most Pure Mother of God, Az Theophilus 2912, Archbishop of Veliky Novgorod and Pskov, these are the writings about this: therefore, by God’s grace of the Holy Spirit and according to the divine and sacred rules of the holy Apostles and Holy Fathers, I was elevated to the great degree by my former master, the Reverend Philip, Metropolitan of All Rus' Archdiocese of Veliky Novgorod and Pskov, and Pasokh until the time of the Holy Church, as far as possible. And the honor of the holy rules of the holy Apostles was gained, he writes, as “archbishops and bishops should have great guard over the sacred rules with all their strength and all their might, for they are entrusted with firmly observing them; and not preserved, various crimes occur: for this reason, the wrath of God and many executions occur, and the final judgment is also a matter of retribution.” 2913 And from these holy scriptures I learned well, even though I see myself as an artist and foolish, I quickly dared to take on such great administrations of the holy apostolic cathedral church, and not reasoning that all this is a burden on my soul, even about the priest’s teaching about the teaching punishment of the entire people of Orthodox souls; and about all of these I recognize the poverty of my mind and the great confusion of my unreason; Yes, protecting my only-begotten and immortal soul from passions and rebellion and from this temporary life in the land of return and the future terrible and unhypocritical judgment and terrible trial, and for this sake I, humble Theophilus, pray and ask God, and with my forehead I beat my master and father, the ecumenical teacher Gerontius, Metropolitan of All Rus', and I inform before my brethren, before apxbishop and bishops, before Asaph of Rostov, and before Euthymius of Suzdal, and before Semyon of Ryazan, and before Vasian of Tver, and before Philotheus of Perm, and before Gerasim of Kolomna, and before Prokhor of Sarkistan 2914, and before all the councils of the great metropolis of all Rus', and I receive from him blessing and forgiveness for my boldness and about my rudeness and about the insufficiency of my mind, that I was not able to shepherd and restrain Christ’s flock of verbal sheep, and for this reason I am leaving the archdiocese of Veliky Novgorod and Pskov and the degree of my priesthood; and to this end, God will command me in the future while I still live, and even if I can act nothing in the hierarchical traditions, let me return back to my previous hierarchical deeds, and be called an archbishop, for I have already deigned to accept my Christ as my yoke and abide in the most humble and humble way until my last breath. And the mercy of God and His Most Pure Mother of God is on my Lord, on the Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich of All Russia and on his son, the Grand Duke Ivan Ivanovich of All Russia, and on his brethren, and on all Orthodox Christianity, and on our humility, blessing forever, amen. The humble Theophilus, formerly the former Archbishop of Veliky Novgorod and Pskov, signed this document with his own hand. Handwritten here the name of the archbishop is replaced by the deaf name.
