This time, Archbishop Basian of Rostov and Yaroslavl, I give my will and desire to my lord and father, the Most Reverend Gerontius, Metropolitan of All Rus', that he ordered me to be with him for the election of our brother Kolomna Bishop about the Holy Spirit, and it is impossible for me to be at that election, for the sake of my weakness. And whom my lord and father Gerontius, Metropolitan of All Rus', and in the Holy Spirit, our brethren, the archbishop and bishops, will collectively choose, according to the holy rules of the divine Apostles and God-bearing Fathers, for that divine work: and they will appoint him bishop of Kolomna; and I with my lord and father Gerontius, Metropolitan of All Russia, and with my brethren, with the archbishop and bishops and with the entire sacred council, I have one will and desire for this divine work, and I give to my lord and father the Most Reverend Gerontius, Metropolitan of All Rus', and about the Holy Spirit to my brethren, the archbishop and bishops, and to everything sacred to the cathedral, this is my free charter.
