On Saturday, the local proclamation of the canonization of Saint Olympia from Fărcașa took place in her hometown in Neamț County.

The Holy Liturgy was officiated by Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bucovina, together with Bishop Ignatius of Husi, Vicar Bishops Nichifor Botoșanean of the Archdiocese of Iasi, Nectarie de Bogdania of the Archdiocese of Chisinau, Damaschin Dornean of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuțil and Teofil Trotusan of the Archdiocese of Roman and Bacau.

A delegation of monks from the Romanian Hermitage Prodromu from Holy Mount Athos, where Saint Petronius Tănase, the son of Saint Olimpiada from Fărcașa, lived, was also present at the service.

I saw the article about the monks from Prodromu Skete coming to the canonization—our Chicago parish has a small icon of that Skete in the narthex, and Father Ivan always mentions it when talking about the Romanian monks on Mount Athos. It’s nice to see that connection honored so close to home.

That’s lovely about the monks from Prodromu coming over. My daughter brought back a little icon of St Petroniu from Romania years ago, so it was nice to read he was the son of the new saint. The date 4 July will be easy to remember now.

I'm glad that they came from the Petronius Monastery, it's a really good bond between mother and daughter. July 4 is really easy to remember, but for us Georgians, July is more remembered as the month of St. Nino.

I'm glad that they came from the Petronius Monastery, it's a really beautiful bond between mother and daughter. The 4th of July became easy to remember for me too, although the feast of St. Nino on January 27 still reminds us of July the most. If you have more information about this sanctity, tell us.
