With the blessing of the Metropolitan of Ekaterinburg and Verhoyansk Evgeny, the sisters of the Alexander-Nevsky Novo-Tikhvin Monastery of Ekaterinburg invite you to honor the memory of the foundress and first abbess of the Novo-Tikhvin Women's Monastery, Igumena Taisia.

In 2026, it will be 200 years since the repose of Mother Taisia and 230 years since her entry into the monastic community.

Igumena Taisia lived in the 18th and early 19th centuries. She came from a simple background and did not know how to read until she was 40, but she managed to found and build a large monastery—the first in Ekaterinburg and the only women's monastery on the Ural at that time.

Mother Taisia's deep faith and love for God touched the hearts of people, including high-ranking officials. Admiral Fyodor Ushakov greatly revered Mother Taisia, and Emperor Alexander I supported the monastery. Thus, on September 27, 1824, His Imperial Highness visited the Novo-Tikhvin Monastery. Previously, Emperor Alexander I, his wife Empress Elizabeth Alexeyevna, and his mother, the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, had donated church vessels and liturgical vestments to the monastery.
