An exhibition of contemporary icons brings the Byzantine tradition in dialogue with current art to Iașitranslated

The "Contemporary Icons" exhibition will take place on Saturday at the Palace of Culture in Iași, the Temporary Gallery, where several painters will present their own Byzantine icons to the public.
The icons are made on wood panel with gold, pigments and egg emulsion, mosaic with Murano glass tesserae, mobile fresco and stone and wood carving.
"We are used to looking at the icon in the church or in the prayer corner, where it fulfills the meaning for which it was written, that of being a channel of the meeting between the viewer and the Prototype represented", says a statement published on the official page of the SACRUM Festival, the organizer of the exhibition.
The opening will take place on October 10, from 18:00, and the exhibition can be visited between October 4-30. Marius Ciprian Ghinescu and Miruna Ioana Nicolev are among the curators of the event.
Iconic artists include Herod. Ilie Bobăianu, Herod. Alexie Lungu, Fr. Răzvan Gască, Fr. Nicolae Bălan, Mihaela and Răzvan Bădescu, Andrei Nuțu, Laurențiu Bozgă, Marius Ciprian Ghinescu, Alin Trifa, Despina Murgoi, George Rășcanu, Alexandru Nicolau, Gabriel Toma Chituc, Ioan Popa, Cristina and Andrei...
