On October 2, at the Main Directorate of Cultural Heritage (GUKN) of the Moscow Region, a meeting was held between the head of the GUKN Yu.V. Gridnev, his deputy A.V. Solovyov with the chairman of the Interdiocesan Department for Restoration and Construction (MOREST) of the Moscow Metropolis, Archpriest Vladimir Shaforostov.

The meeting discussed ways to resolve complex issues that arose in 2026 when adjusting restoration projects and obtaining permits to carry out work to preserve cultural heritage sites (CHAs). The head of the GUKN suggested that MOREST conduct an audit of the OKN of the Moscow Metropolis and identify churches for priority restoration

It is interesting that they propose an audit of the churches. Do they already have a preliminary list of which ones in the Moscow area urgently need restoration, or will that be defined after the study? I hope it advances quickly, because some have been waiting for years.

It sounds like a practical step. I wonder if Father Vladimir's team already has a short list of the most urgent churches from their own visits, or if they'll start fresh with the audit. Either way, getting the paperwork sorted for 2026 will save a lot of headaches down the road.

The auditorium thing is a good idea, Mateo. In the Moscow area there are several 18th century churches that already have serious leaks and cracks, like some in the Podolsk area that I know from friends' photos. Have you seen any in particular that have been like this for a long time? I hope they start soon.
