Philoumen remained loyal to Jacob's well to the end, even though he knew the danger. I remember that Father Iustinos had told Maria Yachnaki how quiet and prayerful a person he was. In 2009 when he was canonized, I felt that our Church finally recognized a modern martyr living among us.

Philoumen stayed at Jacob's well to the end, even though he knew the danger. I also remember Father Ioustinou's interview with Maria Yachnaki; he said how quiet he was and how much he prayed all the time. I am glad that in 2009 he was officially included in the Holy Book, it shows that the Church remembers her own.
