Investigations in the eastern area of ​​the Alba Carolina Fortress were resumed and expanded this year, taking place on the Bastion of Saint John of Capistrano, in an area where vestiges belonging to distinct historical periods are found.

According to historical sources, that space would have had the function of a dungeon. The defensive complex consisted of a rectangular tower with several levels and a circular barbican erected at the beginning of the 16th century.
