The Moldovița Monastery will host a new cultural meeting on September 10, with the guests Father Professor Constantin Necula and journalist Andrei-Victor Dochia, producer of the "Universul Credinței" and "Bucuria credinţei" shows from Romanian Television.

The meeting has the theme "The value of the image in the mission of the Church - for a culture of Light" and starts at 18:00.

The program will include the launch of the volume "The Road to Bethlehem. Meditations on the Nativity Fast", signed by Father Constantin Necula and published by the Crimca Publishing House of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuţil.

Participants will also be able to take part in a concert performed by the "Ciprian Porumbescu" Girls' Choir of the "Ștefan cel Mare" National College in Suceava, conducted by father Lucian Tablan-Popescu.

I’m really looking forward to Fr. Necula’s new book on the Nativity Fast — his meditations always feel so practical. The girls’ choir from Ștefan cel Mare sounds like the perfect touch for an evening at Moldovița. Will try to email Daniela and make it up there on the 10th.

I like that you called his meditations practical — that’s exactly what I found in his last one too. The choir from Ștefan cel Mare should be lovely in that church; my daughter sang with them a few years back. Let me know if you end up going, Helen.

"The value of the image in the mission of the church" is a really interesting topic. I'm already looking forward to Necula's book "The Road to Bethlehem" because his writing is always very clear. If I get time, I will try to email Daniela and come on the 10th, it would be nice to hear the girls' choir at that church.

I’ve used his meditations during the Nativity Fast the last couple years and they really do cut through the noise and give you one clear thing to work on each day. The choir singing in that painted church should be something special. You thinking of driving up from Suceava or farther?

Indeed, Nekula's books are always easy to read and reach the heart. I especially liked his meditations, even giving me ideas for making a roof. If you come, tell me what the girls choir is like in that church, it's interesting.

I have seen the book "Drumul spre Betleem" to friends from Suceava and it really gives a practical idea for each day of fasting, not just words. The topic of the value of the image in the mission of the Church seems interesting to me, especially in such a painted monastery as Moldovița. If I end up taking the bus from Thessaloniki, I will try to email Daniela to reserve a seat.

I remember hearing that choir at a school event in Suceava last spring — the acoustics in Moldovița should make their sound even richer. The book launch has me curious too; I picked up his previous meditations and they really did feel practical, like notes you could actually use during the fast. Are you thinking of driving up from Portland for it, Rebecca?
