The procession of the Holy Icon of the Dormition of the Virgin in the Holy Trinity of Argolistranslated

In an overcast climate, the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin is celebrated every year in the area of Agia Triada (Vouzi) in the Municipality of Nafplio, in Argolis. On the evening of Thursday, August 13, 2026, after the conclusion of the Holy Prayer, the miraculous icon of the Dormition of the Virgin was removed from the central Holy Church of the Holy Trinity to the historic Byzantine Church of the Dormition of the Virgin.

In the old Church, in an atmosphere of deep darkness, the Praises to the Most Holy Theotokos were sung, while the Vespers and the Holy Prayer were performed by the priests Fr. John and Fr. George Mitrosylis.

The miraculous Icon of the Dormition of the Virgin will remain in the Byzantine Church until the main day of the feast. After the completion of the Divine Liturgy, it will be transferred again to the newest Church of the Holy Trinity.

The Church of the Dormition of the Virgin is one of the most important Byzantine monuments in the area and belongs to the Komnenian period, giving particular historical and religious significance to the celebration.
