Archpastoral visit to the Spassky Convent in Kobrintranslated

On August 14, 2026, on the feast of the Removal of the Trees of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, in memory of the holy Maccabee martyrs, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the convent of the All-Merciful Savior in the city of Kobrin on the occasion of the patronal feast day.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were: the rector of the monastery in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord in ag. Khmelevo Archimandrite Seraphim (Petruchik); dean of the churches of the Kobrin district, rector of the Cathedral of the Holy Blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky in Kobrin, Archpriest Sergius Utrata; clergy of the Brest city deanery of the Brest diocese and the Spassky Monastery.

The diaconal rank was headed by the cleric of the Cathedral of St. Simeon the Stylite in Brest, Deacon John Shkulepa.

The choir of the Spassky Monastery performed the liturgical chants.

The following people prayed during the service: the abbess of the convent of the All-Merciful Savior in Kobrin, Abbess Euphrosyne (Kurakevich); Abbess of the Holy Xenia Convent in the village of Baran, Borisov diocese, Abbess Eupraxia (Zubova); Abbot of the St. Barbara Convent in Pinsk, Abbess Ekaterina...

Thanks for the news. It is nice that the abbesses from Barany and Pinsk - Abbess Eupraxia and Ekaterina - gathered for the throne holiday in Kobrin. The choir of the monastery always sings so that the service goes smoothly, especially on the day of the Maccabees.

I am glad to see that Abbess Euphrosinia and the local sisters were again in Kobrin for the feast of the throne. Their choir is really special, after their singing even your back hurts less when you stand. And the embroidery on the towels for the Maccabees this year was probably especially painstakingly done.

The choir at the Spas monastery really does make the service flow easier, especially on Maccabees day. Nice to see Abbess Evfrosinia and the sisters from Baran and Pinsk all together for the patronal feast. That embroidery on the towels must have taken some serious work this year.
